Un sargento del Ejército de Tierra ha recibido un disparo en el hombro cerca del cuartel de Loyola, en San Sebastián. Aunque la Ertzaintza no ha confirmado que sea un atentado de ETA, barajan “la posibilidad en un alto porcentaje” de que se trate de un atentado ya que el militar fue abordado por dos individuos que le dispararon por la espalda. Según ha relatado el propio militar repelió la agresión disparando con su arma reglamentaria. El sargento M.R.V., de 28 años, está ingresado en el Hospital Donostia con pronóstico reservado aunque no se teme por su vida.

Fue trasladado al Hospital Donostia por un compañero de la residencia militar que le asistió, al que, al igual que otros posibles testigos, se está tomando declaración.
Se investiga si el disparo es obra de ETA o un suceso de otra índole, según manifestaron fuentes de la Ertzaintza a Europa Press. Las mismas fuentes del Departamento de Interior indicaron que habrá que esperar un tiempo para conocer con exactitud qué es lo que ha ocurrido porque, de momento, “no está claro” y se sigue investigando.
Si se confirmase que es una acción de ETA, la banda terrorista reaparecería tras su atentado el pasado 9 de octubre. Entonces, ETA colocó una bomba lapa en el coche oficial de un concejal del PSE y su escolta Gabriel Giner resultó herido. Ese atentado se produjo días después de la detención de la cúpula de Batasuna por orden del juez de la Audiencia Nacional Baltasar Garzón.

La víctima presenta una herida de bala con entrada por la parte delantera del hombro izquierdo y salida por la zona del omoplato y su vida no corre peligro, según el parte médico facilitado tras su ingreso, sobre las 22.45, en el Servicio de Urgencias del Hospital Donostia, donde está siendo atendido.

El presidente del Gobierno, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, aseguró hoy que la reunión que el próximo martes mantendrá con el lehendakari Juan José Ibarretxe será correcta en las formas, pero clara y nítida en el fondo, para que tenga claro que su iniciativa no respeta la ley.

En un encuentro informal con periodistas en el Palacio Real, donde los Reyes ofrecieron una recepción oficial con ocasión del 12 de Octubre, Zapatero explicó que Ibarretxe tiene que respetar las leyes y la Constitución y que todo lo que no signifique respeto, no se puede hacer, subrayando que eso será lo que le va a decir en la reunión del martes en el Palacio de la Moncloa.

No obstante, el jefe del Ejecutivo no quiso desvelar qué armas utilizara en el caso de que Ibarretxe persista en su intención de convocar el reférendum. En este sentido, descartó aplicar el artículo 155 de la Constitución como han pedido entre otros Alfonso Guerra y varios dirigentes del PP.

For English readers:
Ibarreche is the Basque lehendakari (president of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country). He proposed two years ago a referendum to make the territory a “Free Associated State” with Spain, basically to make other Spanish people (not Basques) pay for the Army because, as they are very modern, they don’t need to have one. They already have ETA terrorists, with which the Basque Nationalist Party has not been very tough (in fact, one of their leaders, Arzalluz, said once that “ETA moves the tree and we will recollect the fruits”. So basically, he recognised that they were profiting from the terror, the murders, the violence,etc…).
That time, the Spanish Parliament issued a resolution by which the referendum was illegal (NOTE: in Spain only the President of the Government can convoke the people to a referedum, so the lehendakari has no competences), and Ibarreche backed up.
What happens? That Zapatero has been negotiating with ETA terrorists, negotiation which has basically ended officially (as later I write, it has not ended really). But his goals are very similar to the ones defended by Ibarreche. As I posted here some days ago, an internal PSOE document has already said that Socialists want:

to build a normal country, according to the parameters of the European Union.
According to this document, the Socialists’ objective is to make two negotiation’s tables to reach the Basque Country’s self-government (1st: the Basque country is now the most self-governed entity in the world, except the independent States: from Health department to Education to Police to Fiscal treatment; they even have a Superior Tribunal on their own, although people can exercise legal actions against its resolutions before the Spanish Supreme Tribunal, but not in everything; 2ndly, one of the ETA demands is precisely the constitution of the two tables, because that would mean from the beginning that Spain is a legal and political entity separated from the Basque Country[1]). The document about pacification and normalization of the Basque Country, dated Jan 2006, points out what is the route that Zapatero is going to follow, and also it contains the contents and textual expressions from ETA official press releases.

So, what happens now? Well, it’s true that Zapatero has ordered the detention of the Batasuna’s leaders, to the astonishment of the Beeb. But don’t worry, looks like what they have done is: they have detained the hardest/toughest in the negotiation to leave space for the the considered “softer”: the son of bloody terrorist Josu Ternera. The terrorist is interested in not losing contacts with the Government:

The intelligence services of the National Police and of the Civil Guard have known that there have been several meetings between Socialists, people in the surroundings of Jesús Eguiguren [2], with members of the terrorist band ETA, leadered by Josu Ternera. The last of those meetings was held last week, days before the detention of the national leaders of Batasuna, somwhere between Germany and Austria.

[…] Josu Ternera, who is still and important leader, with carisma and with authority before his followers want to sit again with the Government’s negotiators. But after the last events, people near ZP are considering if Ternera could be the man who could leader the weapons’ abandonment by ETA. And what the president has heard is “probably no”. As Florencio Domínguez has told several times, and he is one of the most important experts in the terrorist band in Spain, Josu Ternera has been a specialist in losing every opportunity he has had to negotiate in the whole history of the terrorist band.

The presence of the son of Ternera was, for the representants of the Socialists, a full warranty because it meant that the ideologue of the terrorist attack to Hipercor, accepts the winks that the socialists have made him since ETA broke the “permanent ceasefire“. The only condition that he has made to continue is that the conversations should begin, based in the points that Jesús Eguiguren has developed and that let and open the door to “the last word is only of the BAsques in the conflict between the Spanish State and Euskal Herría”, according to Egoitz Urrutikoetxea Laskibar (the Josu Ternera’s son). A pre-condition for that is the double table: Government-ETA and the rest of the political forces-Batasuna.

Kate sent me the other day a link that afterwards posted in her own blog. In it it says:

Spain’s prime minister vowed Wednesday to wage a relentless fight against terrorism, a day after a ruling party politician’s bodyguard was injured in the most serious of a spate of bomb attacks blamed on Basque separatists.
The democratic state is very strong and prepared for this battle,” Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero told the Senate.
“The government will fight with firmness any terror attempts,” he said. “It will use all means to thwart and pursue down those who use violence.”

But of course, if the Government does with the terrorist want, it is not fighting them at all. What is more, it is utterly immoral that the Secretary of State of Security said after the terrorist attack in which a bodyguard was attacked [3], that ETA wanted to “compromise a life”. No, pfrttttttttttt!!, ETA wanted to KILL him.

Anyway, Spanish bloggers did not buy that thing about the firmness in the fight against ETA. For example, Maya:

Zapatero has not varied anything at all. He says a lot and at the same time, he says nothing. And the true thing is that I am not surprised. Yesterday I commented that it was cristal clear that the lack of statements on Zapatero’s part, was because he wanted the terrorist ETA to give him the directions to act, just as when he called the murders of the T-4 Barajas’ platform as “mortal tragic accidents”. ETA supporters were lazy yesterday and wanted to wait 24 hours to dictate to the Government’s President. And once more we have seen the result, we are as ever: with empty words.

So in this context, Ibarreche has said that he wants to make the referendum again, in the next autumn (autumn 2008). There was the probability of using the article 155 of Spanish Constitution that entitles Spanish Senate to block the self-government of an Autonomous Community in case it acts against the interests of the entire Spanish Nation. But Zapatero has said that “he is going to tell clearly to Ibarreche that the referendum is illegal but would never ever ever ever use that article”. He has not said what is he going to do.

But considering the entire post, I do not trust him at all in this matter.

[1] Maite Pagazaurtundua, President of the Foundation for the Victims of Terrorism and sister of Joseba Pagazaurtundua murdered by ETA because of the terrible negligences of the Basque Government, states that, anyone who opposes the Basque Nationalist system, has risks related to ETA terrorist actions.
[2] Jesús Eguiguren was condemned on charges of bad mistreatment to his wife. Later the Socialists rejected a proposition of law by PP by which all the public servants and authorities who had been condemned on those charges should be excluded from public office. Do you imagine why?
[3] Yes, they aimed at the bodyguard, who was a militant of Popular Party, who is against the negotiation and just afterwards his job serving a Socialist had ended. He was, in fact, moving away from Basque Country that same morning.

Many Lebanese say another civil war — like the 15-year one that started in 1975 — is imminent and that the most dangerous flash points are within the divided Christian community.Christian youth are signing up for militant factions in the greatest numbers since the end of the civil war, spray painting nationalist symbols on walls and tattooing them on their skin, and proclaiming their willingness to fight in a new civil war — in particular, against fellow Christians.“When the war begins, I’ll be the first one in it,” said Fadil Abbas, 30, flexing his biceps in Shadow Tattoo as an artist etched a cross onto his shoulder. “I want everyone to know I am a Christian and I am ready to fight.”The struggle is over who gets to be the next president, a post reserved for a Christian under Lebanon’s Constitution, and which must be filled by the end of November.
But the larger question — one that is prompting rival Christian factions to threaten war — is whether Lebanese Christians must accept their minority status and get along with the Muslim majority (the choice of the popular Gen. Michel Aoun) or whether Christians should insist on special privileges (¡! oh, yeah and all the people who are Lebanese in exile, precisely because of the civil war, and the invasion of Hizbollah, those account for nothing right??) no matter what their share of the population (the position of veteran civil war factions like the Phalange and the Lebanese Forces).The government dedicated an extraordinary cabinet session in September to reports that Christian factions had opened militia training camps in the mountains. The police have arrested two groups of Christians allegedly linked to General Aoun’s party — the most recent on Thursday — and accused them of illegal weapons training. One group said that they were on a picnic and the other that they were “playing.” General Aoun said his followers keep only “personal weapons,” like most Lebanese.

As you can see, the NYT is just confirming once again its partiality against Christians and for Muslims. How on earth it can write an entire article about the re-arming of Christian groups which would act in case of an hypothetical civil war, when they have Hizbollah that it’s armed now?

Hezbollah possesses the Katyusha-122 rocket, which has a range of 29 kilometres (18 miles) and carries a 15 kilo (33 pound) warhead. Hezbollah also possesses about 100 long-range missiles. They include the Iranian-made Fajr-3 and Fajr-5, the latter with a range of 75 kilometres, enabling it to strike the Israeli port of Haifa, and the Zelzal-1 with an estimated 150-kilometre range, which can reach Tel Aviv. Fajr-3 missiles have a range of 40 kilometres, and a 45 kilo warhead, and Fajr-5 missiles, which extend to 72 kilometres, also hold 45 kilo warheads.^[122]

According to various reports, Hezbollah is armed with some anti-tank guided missiles. Namely the Russian-made AT-3 Sagger, AT-4 Spigot, AT-5 Spandrel, AT-13 Saxhorn-2 ‘Metis-M’, ??-14 Spriggan ‘Kornet’; Iranian-made Ra’ad (version of AT-3 Sagger), Towsan (version of AT-5 Spandrel), Toophan (version of BGM-71 TOW); and European-made MILAN missiles. These weapons have been used against IDF soldiers, causing much of the deaths during the 2006 Lebanon War.^[123]

For air defence, Hezbollah possesses some anti-aircraft weapons, including the ZU-23 artillery and man-portable shoulder-fired SA-7 and SA-18 surface-to-air missile (SAM).^[124] One of the most effective weapons deployed by Hezbollah has been the C-802 anti-ship missile, a variant of the Chinese Silkworm missile.^[125]

During the 2006 Lebanon War, Hezbollah fired 3,970 rockets into Northern Israel in the course of a month, killing 43 Israeli civilians.^[126] Hezbollah officials have stated that the group has recovered fully from the previous war; during the Divine Victory rally, held shortly after the cease-fire, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared that the group has “more than 20,000 rockets available”.^[127] He also spoke in retrospect of the war, saying “Tel Aviv or elsewhere, we were certain that we could reach any corner or spot in occupied Palestine and now we are certain that we can reach them.”^[128] Nasrallah has also implied that Hezbollah’s rocket force became stronger in the months following the 2006 Lebanon War than it had been during the war itself.^[129]

According to the United States, Iran has provided weapons to Hezbollah as well as provided training and funding. In addition, Syria has permitted Iran to use Damascus as a transshipment point to supply Hezbollah.^[21] There are also reports that Syria itself has supplied Hezbollah with BM-27 220mm rockets.^[13]

In another report, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has helped build Hezbollah’s underground storerooms in the Bekaa Valley to hold huge amounts of missiles and ammunition. Hezbollah’s missile force includes some 200 technicians and experts trained in Iran.^[22] The Zelzal-2 rockets require expertise to aim and launch effectively, and Hezbollah may require direct support from Iranian Revolutionary Guards to operate the rockets.^[12]

Russia has denied sending anti-tank weapons to Hizbollah.

Israel’s Haaretz daily quoted intelligence sources Sunday as saying that Israel’s ground troops casualties mostly resulted from special anti-tank units of Hizbollah using modern Russian-made RPG-29 that had been sold by Moscow to the Syrians and then transferred to the organization.

“Such insinuations are a source of bewilderment in Moscow, to say the least,” Mikhail Kamynin said. “If there are any questions raised, they can be addressed through normal diplomatic channels. So far we have had no such inquiries, and no proof has been presented.”

Hizbollah’s spectacular rocket attack on an Israeli warship is proof of what Hizbollah has claimed for several years — it has an array of weapons that could trouble the Middle East’s mightiest army.
And with it proof is emerging of what many widely suspected: Iran had stepped up its arms shipments to the Shi’ite Muslim group both in terms of quality and quantity.
An Israeli military source said on Saturday that an Iranian-made C802 radar-guided land-to-sea missile with a range of 60 miles (95 km) hit and badly damaged the ship. Two missiles were fired, the other sank an Egyptian merchant ship, the source said.
“This is sophisticated weaponry. This is advanced weaponry being supplied by one terrorist state (Iran) to another,” the source said.

The moment can’t be worse as:

The firing of a long-range Katyusha rocket into Israel from Gaza on Sunday has ratcheted up concerns here for the increased threat of missiles against the Jewish state.
The weapon of choice of Palestinian militants in Gaza has been the Kassam rocket, which has relatively poor aim and short range, but has nonetheless caused damage and killed 14 Israelis and injured hundreds more, according to an Israeli government tally.
The Katyusha rocket is the type of weapon that was used by Hizbullah in Lebanon to hit Israeli cities during last year’s war. Unguided but better constructed, it has twice the range – about 12 miles – and the potential to carry about twice the payload, missile experts here say.
The Katyusha was fired at the southern town of Netivot, about seven miles east of Gaza. It landed in an open space, doing minimal damage. The Popular Resistance Committee, a Palestinian militant group in Gaza that includes Hamas, claimed responsibility for the Katyusha attack.

So, what does this mean? Who is giving Hizbollah these missiles?

But EU is worried about the “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza, and blames Israel for it:

One British MEP, Chris Davies, said it should be Israel and not EU taxpayers who should foot the bill to solve the Palestinian humanitarian crisis.
“What does it have to do with the EU? Gaza is an Israeli prison camp. It is the Israelis who should be responsible. They are the ones that keep them in misery,” said Davis.

Hmm, yeah, and what about terrorism, Mr Davies? Do I have to remember you have kept for 38 years the British Army in Northern Ireland to prevent terrorist acts? Something wise to do, I must add. So you can do it, but others cannot defend themselves? If it’s British is OK, but if it’s an Israeli idea, then it’s bad? Or what?

NYT was very worried yesterday about the Israeli justification to bomb Syria a month ago. Today it says “Syria tells journalists Israeli raid did not occur“. But:

Israel has been unusually quiet about the attack on Sept. 6 and has effectively imposed a news blackout about it. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli opposition leader, on Sept. 19 became the first public figure in Israel to acknowledge that an attack had even taken place. Some Israeli officials have said, though not publicly, that the raid hit a nuclear-related facility that North Korea was helping to equip, but they have not specified where.

EL NYT en su línea. Tenemos a los terroristas de Hizbolá, armados hasta los dientes con misiles anti-tanque, tierra-aire y tierra-mar (que dañaron gravemente un barco israelí en 2005)… y escribe un artículo entero diciendo que, como hay espectros de una nueva guerra civil en marcha, los cristianos están empezando a sumarse a facciones armadas para enfrentarse a ellos. Si la misión de la ONU hubiera cumplido con lo que prometió (desarmar a Hizbolá) no habría necesidad de guerra civil. Pero como la ONU no quiere reconocer que, eliminado/reducido Hizbolá, se habrían acabado muchos de los problemas de la región (quedarían Hamas y Al-Fatah), no se le dio a la misión ese objetivo como prioritario.
Al final, si se desata la guerra, tendrán la culpa los cristianos por no obedecer a Hizbolá.
El Katiusha: un arma rudimentaria y aterradora. (guerra del 2006)

Un problema clave es el arsenal en manos de Hezbollah. Al comienzo de la guerra, se estimaba que tenía por lo menos 12.000 cohetes de corto alcance -capaces de llegar a unos 20 kilómetros de distancia- que le fueron provistos por Siria e Irán. Si la cifra es cierta, todavía le quedan por lo menos 9000.
Pero lo que cuenta no es sólo su número, sino sus características. […] Estos cohetes pueden ser disparados rápidamente sin grandes preparativos. Basta con que un militante se esconda dentro de una casa, coloque un trípode y dispare. A veces, hasta por control remoto. “Puede disparar por un sistema de tiro retardado o por telecomando -dice el general Dayan-, mientras que las coordenadas para el blanco pueden ser transmitidas por teléfono o por mensaje de texto.”
No se requiere casi nada especial antes del disparo, a diferencia de lo que ocurre con los cohetes de mayor alcance -como los que llegan a Haifa-, que necesitan de otros elementos para ser lanzados.
Un tema clave en esta guerra es que Israel está lidiando con una organización que ataca desde concentraciones civiles, que ha construido búnkeres bajo viviendas de la población y que dispara desde escuelas, junto a posiciones de la ONU y aldeas habitadas.
Israel se impone limitaciones en sus ataques contra blancos de Hezbollah. A pesar de las duras críticas de las que ha sido objeto desde diferentes sectores de la comunidad internacional, si hubiera utilizado todo su poderío aéreo en territorio libanés, el número de bajas civiles se contaría por miles y la destrucción sería de dimensiones mucho mayores.

Ya se ven cuáles son los frutos de la negociación con los “hombres de Paz”… Y me sumo a la exigencia, pero que no sea sólo hasta las elecciones, si gano las elecciones, etc… SIN CONDICIONES.

Madrid, 9 de octubre de 2007. La Asociación Víctimas del Terrorismo quiere expresar su cercanía y solidaridad con la familia del escolta Gabriel Giner Colás, víctima del atentado cometido hoy por ETA en Bilbao. El departamento psicosocial de la asociación ya está realizando las gestiones oportunas para ponerse a disposición de los familiares del herido.

 

La AVT condena la sinrazón del terrorismo de ETA y muestra su apoyo incondicional a aquellos que velan por nuestra seguridad, a las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado y a los escoltas privados. Además, las víctimas reclaman que la Justicia actúe contra Pernando Barrena por las amenazas terroristas que vertió tras la detención de la cúpula de Batasuna-ETA.

 

La AVT también quiere reseñar la necesidad de que el Congreso de los Diputados revoque la resolución adoptada por la Cámara Baja por la que se habilita al Gobierno a negociar con los terroristas. Una negociación que los asesinos han usado para chantajear al Estado de Derecho y para fortalecer sus estructuras de extorsión y muerte. A ETA se la vence, no se la convence.

Catholic World News : Vatican greets Muslims, asks cooperation for peace

As the Islamic observance of Ramadan comes to an end, the president of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue has sent a message to the world’s Muslims stressing the duty of all believers to bear witness to the Almighty.In his message, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran says that all believers, regardless of their faith, should share in “work in favor of peace, by showing respect for the convictions of individuals and communities everywhere through freedom of religious practice. ” Enlarging on that theme, he calls for “doing everything one can to reject, denounce and refuse every recourse to violence which can never be motivated by religion, since it wounds the very image of God in man.”

That’s marvellous if you are dealing with peaceful guys but if only 1% of Muslims support actively terrorism, that makes 13.000.000 persons who are supporting terrorist attacks, suicide bombers… and beheading any people who are against them. Do you really consider that they are going to be stopped because of good will?

Cardinal Tauran’s message makes a special point of condemning terrorism, “which strikes blindly and claims countless innocent victims, is incapable of resolving conflicts and leads only to a deadly chain of destructive hatred, to the detriment of mankind and of societies.”

The French cardinal (ohh, he’s French…) argues that dialogue between Christians and Muslims is “the tool which can help us to escape from the endless spiral of conflict and multiple tensions which mark our societies.”

Cardinal Tauran, who had served for years under Pope John Paul II (bio - news) as the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States– the rought equivalent of a Vatican foreign minister– was appointed in June to head the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue. His appointment appeared to reverse an earlier papal decision, announced in March 2006, to combine that Council with the Pontifical Council for Culture, with a single prelate heading both offices. Informed sources said that tensions with Muslims– especially in the aftermath of a lecture by Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) in Regensburg– convinced Vatican officials that the office responsible for inter-religious talks should not be downgraded.

With all due respect, I disagree. There are Muslims who are peaceful but there are important numbers who are not. There are some of them who are supporting Al-Qaeda’s leader, Bin Laden (estimated number 130.000.000) in his war against “US and the Zionist-Crusaders”. And there are others who are supporting the creation of a mega-State, the Global Caliphate, cleaned of Infidels, like you and me. Even in huge stadiums and to everyone’s knowledge.

And then we have to count the ones who are not supporting that positions right now, but in case they have to choose between Islam/Islamists and you and me, as Infidels, they would gladly choose the first ones.

There is another point to make: all of that 130.000.000 don’t think you and me are precisely innocents, but just infidels and, as such, can be killed without any kind of regard.

Yesteday, searching about Burma, I found this link The Two Faces of Al-Qaeda:

Ibrahim, a scholar of Arabic studies who worked in the Near East Section of the African and Middle Eastern Division of the Library of Congress, came into contact with “thousands of new books, serials, and microfilms [that] arrive yearly from the Arab world,” among which were a large number of texts dealing with Al Qaeda, and Ibrahim noticed something interesting and worth reporting upon:

Numerous Arabic books dealing with Al Qaeda passed through my hands in this privileged position. A good number contained not only excerpts or quotes by Al Qaeda but entire treatises written by its members. Surprisingly, I came to discover that most of these had never been translated into English. Most significantly, however, the documents struck me as markedly different from the messages directed to the West, in both tone and (especially) content.

It soon became clear why these particular documents had not been directed to the West. They were theological treatises, revolving around what Islam commands Muslims to do vis-à-vis non-Muslims. The documents rarely made mention of all those things — Zionism, Bush’s “Crusade,” malnourished Iraqi children — that formed the core of Al Qaeda’s messages to the West. Instead, they were filled with countless Koranic verses, hadiths (traditions attributed to the Prophet Muhammad), and the consensus and verdicts of Islam’s most authoritative voices. The temporal and emotive language directed at the West was exchanged for the eternal language of Islam when directed at Muslims. Or, put another way, the language of “reciprocity” was exchanged for that of intolerant religious fanaticism. There was, in fact, scant mention of the words “West,” “U.S.,” or “Israel.” All of those were encompassed by that one Arabic-Islamic word, “kufr” — “infidelity” — the regrettable state of being non-Muslim that must always be fought through “tongue and teeth.“

Read it all.

That’s the problem: we have 130.000.000 who believe in that creed… and very few who want to stand against that.

And by the way, this implies: a) they know perfectly well what is our Achilles’ heel. b) their war, has nothing to do with what the West does or doesn’t do, but with their ideology -looks like this is difficult to understand for some people….- and c) it’s true that not all Muslims are supporting this, but I insist again: if they have to choose between Bin Laden and Bush, who would they support? Daily Kos’ readers don’t have that very clear when they are choosing between Ahmadinejad and Bush.

Lastly, I have not changed my views: I still believe there are Muslims who do not agree with these statements, and who only want to live freely and to practise their religion without anyone telling them what they should do, but who are sufficiently scared to speak out because they know what they are confronting. But we have also to be realistic: considering that we live in a magnificent and peaceful world, where no one wants to harm us, and where everyone has good intentions, is as bad as considering every one out there is a monster. Problem: how to know who are of each kind?

El mensaje del Cardenal Tauran hace especial hincapié en condenar el terrorismo, “que golpea ciegamente y produce incontables víctimas inocentes, es incapaz de resolver conflictos y lleva sólo a una cadena indestructible de odio en detrimento de la Humanidad y de las sociedades.”

Pero vamos a ver, eso sirve para los que profesamos una ideología religiosa pacífica (o sea, NO a la violencia, salvo que sea el último recurso), pero NO sirve si la PRIMERA idea que tienen es la jihad. Y que conste que con sólo que el 1% de los musulmanes del mundo, sean partidarios de los terroristas suicidas, tendríamos ya a trece millones (o sea, 13.000.000) personas que apoyan ACTIVAMENTE la violencia, cualquiera que sea el destinatario y cualquiera que sea la forma en la que se lleva el ataque:

Los extremistas musulmanes del mundo se estiman en un uno por ciento del total de los musulmanes que son unos 1.300 millones. Por tanto, serían unos 13 millones que consideran a los terroristas suicidas y a otros actos de terrorismo como armas legítimas contra EEUU y los demás cruzados sionistas. Los fundamentalistas que apoyan a Bin Laden, aunque no necesariamente sus métodos, son alrededor de 130 millones.

Los extremistas pueden ser incluso jóvenes de clase de media con formación superior y conocimientos de informática. Y que conste que a mí su discurso me gusta pero hay que ser realista y a los terroristas/extremistas/insurgentes/islamistas y demás ralea no se les puede decir “no seais tan malos, hombre… que haceis pupita….” porque ya sabemos cómo responden.

Y el broche final:

El cardenal francés (ahhh, bueno, que es francés…. ) señala que el diálogo entre los cristianos y los musulmanes es la “clave que puede ayudarnos a escapar de la espiral sin fin del conflicto y de las múltiples tensiones que marcan nuestras sociedades.”

Creo no ser una aguafiestas si digo que el mundo siempre tendrá conflictos y tensiones y que esta que nos ocupa sólo puede tener dos finales: o la erradicación de la fe musulmana -lo cual es imposible, sería un genocidio- o la evolución de la religión mediante la realización de una reforma que permita la coexistencia -lo que veo difícil considerando la situación presente-. Y no me sirve para esto que algunos digan que la reforma ha tenido lugar citando al wahabismo, porque más integrista/racista/fundamentalista… que esa ideología, me da que hay pocas…

Ayer, buscando noticias sobre Birmania, me topé con este link: Las dos caras de Al-Qaeda:

Ibrahim, un becario de estudios árabes que trabajaba en la Sección Este de la División Africana y de Medio Oriente de la Biblioteca del Congreso, estaba en contacto con “miles de nuevos libros, series, y microfilms que llegan cada año desde el mundo árabe”, entre los que hay “un gran número que tratan sobre Al-Qaeda”. Ibrahim se dio cuenta de algo interesante e informó a sus superiores:

Muchos de los libros en árabe que tratan sobre Al-Qaeda han pasado por mis manos debido a mi posición privilegiada. Un gran número contenían no sólo párrafos o frases de Al-Qaeda pero tratados enteros escritos por sus miembros. Sorprendentemente, descubrí que muchos de ellos nunca se habían traducido al inglés. Lo más significativo sin embargo, es que sus mensajes eran muy diferentes a los que ellos mismos dirigen a Occidente, tanto en tono como (especialmente) en contenido.
Pronto, tuve claro por qué dichos documentos no habían sido dirigidos a Occidente. Eran tratados teológicos, acerca de lo que el Islam obliga a los musulmanes a hacer frente a los no-musulmanes. Los documentos raramente mencionaban todos esas cosas — Sionismo, “la Cruzada” de Bush, los niños iraquíes malnutridos — que forman el corazón de los mensajes de Al-Qaeda para Occidente. En lugar de eso, estaban llenos de versos coránicos incontables, de hadiths (tradiciones atribuídas al Profeta Mahoma), y del consenso y veredictos de las voces más autorizadas del Islam. Lo cual implica: a) saben perfectamente de qué pie cojeamos (o cojean algunos de por aquí). b) su guerra no tiene nada que ver con lo que Occidente haga o deje de hacer, tiene que ver con su ideología -que parece que a nadie se le mete en la cabeza….- y c) es cierto que no todos apoyan esto, pero vuelvo a insistir: si tuvieran que elegir entre Bin Laden o Bush, ¿a quién apoyarían? Los izquierdistas del Daily Kos -no musulmanes, ¡ojo!- no lo tienen claro cuando se trata de elegir entre Ahmadinejad y Bush.

Y sigo pensando que hay algunos que no apoyan esto, que realmente quieren vivir su fe de forma independiente y que no hablan porque saben lo que se les viene encima de los mismos que la apoyan, decididos a continuar por ese mismo camino porque esa ideología les dará poder. El problema es distinguirlos, separar la paja del grano. Y para eso no sirve la buena voluntad de los infieles -entre los que nos contamos, usted y yo, señor Cardenal-: para las personas que buscan el poder absoluto, respecto de todas las personas y en todos los aspectos de la vida, la buena voluntad es una simple señal de debilidad. Como con los monjes budistas birmanos:

[El Gobierno birmano ha intentando] manejar el ejemplo del auto-control de los monjes para presionar a los creyentes.

Pues eso, señor Cardenal.

Otra vez se prueba que las negociaciones con terroristas no tienen mucho sentido: Karzai ha ofrecido hablar con los Taliban y le han mandado a paseo. Pero es que, además, aquí tenemos otro ejemplo de palabrería cursi:

“Si encuentro la dirección, no hay necesidad de que ellos vengan a donde yo esté, personalmente iré y me pondré en contacto con ellos,” dijo Karzai. “Estimado Mulá -el Mulá Omar-, señor (hein???), y estimadoHekmatyar, señor, ¿por que están destruyendo el país?”

Y ¿la sumisión que esta declaración destila? Parece que se está quejando como un niño frente al matón de la clase. Hombre, por favor, Mulá, no seas tan bruto, que me estás haciendo pupitaaaaa…

Así que la contestación de los Talibán ha sido la esperada:

“Incluso si Karzai deja la presidencia, no es posible que el Mulá esté de acuerdo en negociar con él,” dijo Ahmadi (representante Talibán) a The Associated Press. “Las fuerzas extrajeras no tienen autoridad para hablar sobre Afganistán.”

Pues nada, oye, si queremos seguir lloriqueando frente a los terroristas más variopintos, ahí tenemos la respuesta.

Aunque no es la única: se ha publicado la Constitución Talibán de Afganistán -dicen que la hicieron en 2005 y ¡¡¡qué casualidad que se publique ahora!!! cuando Karzai ha “repetido” con mucha frecuencia lo de la negociación. Si hay algo para desternillarse (si no es para llorar) es esto:

“Todo afgano tiene el derecho de expresar sus sentimientos (ojo, NO IDEAS, sólo sentimientos) a través de sus puntos de vista, sus escritos o cualquier otro medio de acuerdo con la ley,” pero advierte a los violadores del pensamiento islámico que serán “castigados de acuerdo con la Sharia.”

La letra pequeña, que siempre hay que leerla. De modo que el “derecho a expresar sus sentimientos” no existe si va a en contra de la Sharia. Las ideas, esas mejor las dejamos para otro día….

Mientras los Talibanes siguen poniendo bombas (28 militares y 2 civiles asesinados en Kabul, ayer 29 de septiembre, más importante ataque desde que echaron a los talibán), siguen atacando a militares de la coalición (esta vez fueron australianos, que los repelieron … ) y los periódicos occidentales siguen sin cubrir el conflicto informando sobre cómo va pero sí criticando a los militares aliados (ahora les toca a los mandos militares alemanes de las Fuerzas Especiales que “conducían borrachos a sus hombres“, lo que con el panorama que hay no es raro).

Detienen en Argelia al fundador del Grupo Salafista para la Predicación y el Combate | elmundo.es

El fundador de la banda terrorista argelina Grupo Salafista para la Predicación y el Combate (GSPC), Hasan Habtab, ha sido detenido por la policía, según informa el diario árabe ‘Al Hayat’.El diario, el más prestigioso del mundo árabe, cita a “fuentes informadas” en su nota fechada en Londres, que aseguraron que Hatab, uno de los terroristas más buscados de Argelia, fue arrestado en el barrio de Husein de Argel el pasado día 22, cuando se encontraba celebrando la ruptura del ayuno en Ramadán.

La fuente indicó que Hatab se encontraba en compañía de algunos ex compañeros del GSPC que han abandonado las armas.

El GSPC aglutinó a los terroristas en activo procedentes del Ejército Islámico de Salvación y del Grupo Islámico Armado, convirtiéndose en el grupo terrorista más temido por el Estado argelino.

Recientemente anunció su fusión con Al Qaeda y la formación de una rama magrebí de esta última organización llamada Al Qaeda en el Magreb Islámico, que opera en el norte de África y algunos países subsharianos.

Esto son buenas noticias, incluso después de señalar la imbecilidad de los diplomáticos USA en sus negociaciones con Argelia.
